Spot Prawns are harvested by trap from the deep, rocky floor of the Pacific Ocean. They are harvested for only short periods of time for about six to eight weeks, roughly from end of April to the first weeks of June.
Frozen BC caught whole Spot Prawns. They are flash frozen in the vessel right after they were caught so you can enjoy throughout the year. These are the most valuable species of prawn in the world, prized for its size, sweetness and rich buttery flavor; typically served as Nigiri in traditional sushi restaurants. Caught from the pristine waters of all over Vancouver Island. Frozen spot prawn may not be as perky and lively as the live Spot Prawns but they will taste just as decadent, tasty and versatile. Spot prawns are not only heavenly, but sustainable as well. Our frozen BC Spot Prawns can be prepared in so many different ways from grilling on your barbecue, steaming, baking, broiling, shell on or shell off. It's all up to you! It is best to eat the frozen spot prawns immediately after thawing.
