Our Black Cod fillets are skin on and boneless. Succulent flavor and rich, velvety texture, this fish also known as sablefish, is a true delicacy earning the nickname butterfish. Sablefish are also known as “Black Cod” due to their cod-like appearance.
Its high fatty content makes it forgiving to the novice cook. It does well grilled, smoked, broiled, poached, in crudo, roasted, or slow-cooked in a confit.
Black Cod found only in the North Pacific Ocean. They are dark-skinned fish with pearly-white flesh and long bodies. Sustainably line caught at BC, Canada. Highest quality fish comes from longline & pot fisheries and that the larger the fish, the better the quality.
